Prenatal exposures to pesticides and child neurodevelopment

A new study based on the analysis of four birth cohorts was performed in order to evaluate associations of prenatal organophosphorus pesticide exposure with child mental and psychomotor development indices. The results obtained should be interpreted with caution due to heterogeneity in associations by Center, race/ethnicity and genotype. However, researchers argue that subgroups with unique exposure profiles or susceptibilities may be at higher risk for adverse neurodevelopment following prenatal exposure.
